GPX to KML converter
Turn a recorded GPX into a KML that Google Earth opens, with the times written as a track its time slider can replay. Nothing is uploaded: the KML is written in the page and saved straight to your device.
Your file is read on this device and never uploaded.

What it does, and what it does not
- Writes a track whose every point has a time as a gx:Track, which Google Earth plays with its time slider.
- Writes a track without times, or with only some, as a LineString, the plain line every KML reader draws.
- Keeps the heights, drawn clamped to the ground so a GPS height below the terrain never sends the line underground.
- Waypoints are not written, and several tracks in the GPX become one line.
Questions
What is the plain line option?
It writes the track as a LineString even when it has times. Choose it for an app that reads lines but not KML’s timed tracks; Google Earth reads both.
What colour is the line?
Gold at 4 px, as a KML style on the line. Google Earth lets you change it after opening the file.
Will it open in Google My Maps?
My Maps imports KML lines. If a timed track does not show, download the plain line instead.
