Turn a Komoot activity into a trip film

Komoot calls a recorded activity a completed tour, and a tour you planned but have not done yet a planned tour: both can become a film. Komoot’s website downloads either one as a GPX, the one file it gives.

Updated

Export the track

  1. Sign in at komoot.com on a computer and open the tour from your profile.
  2. Open the tour’s options and find its download.
  3. Choose the GPX file. It downloads to your computer.

Menus move. If yours looks different, look for Export GPX or Download GPX.

Komoot gives a GPX, and that is the file to use: it carries the line, its heights and, for a completed tour, its times.

Make the film

Drop the GPX that Komoot downloaded on the GPX viewer, and check its distance and climbing against the tour’s page. Press Animate this route, and the tour opens in the editor as a trip: a completed tour’s times choose its vehicle, and a planned tour starts as a hiker. The steps from there are the same for every app: From the track to the film.

Drop the file on the viewer, check it, and press Animate this route. No account, and nothing to install.

Questions

Can I make a film of a tour I have only planned?

Yes: download the planned tour’s GPX in the same way. It has no times, so Voyarc starts it as a hiker; open the scene in the story and pick the bicycle if you will ride it.

Whether the file is uploaded, how several files make one film and how to hide a private start are answered once for every app: questions every app shares.
